A Dark Sky community is a town or city that has shown exceptional dedication to the preservation of the night sky through the implementation and enforcement of quality lighting codes, dark sky education and citizen support of Dark Skies.

 

But Bisbee is so much more than that. The benefits of this designation come on a number of different levels. On one hand, at a dollars and cents level, it will bring more adventurous tourists that will come to enjoy other aspects of our town besides the charms of our century old architecture, excellent restaurants and lively music venues. We can add to that list the Milky Way and wonderful stargazing on most nights

of the year.

 

But on a much more individual level it is our personal connection to the universe. A quality of life issue that so many other communities have let slip away in the forward march of progress. Here in Bisbee we have found a way forward that allows us to embrace the future while keeping what we have.
